Duo García-Gournel

After having met at CNSMDP, young performers Antonio García Jorge (saxophone) and Alexis Gournel (pianist) decided to create one of the most common ensembles in classical music: the duo, as a result of the significance of chamber music in their artistic life.

Since its foundation in 2015, the duo has performed in countless concerts such as the "Andorra SaxFest '15", the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (Madrid), the Sociedad Filarmónica de Málaga, San Sebastián, the University of Xi'an (China), the Institut Français de Valencia, the Espai de la Música "Mestre Vila” Benicassim, the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, the Musée Bourdelle de Paris, the Festival de Riviers (Normandy), amongst others.

All this performance work by Antonio and Alexis came together in two albums: "Musique Espagnole pour Saxophone" and "La Follia Nuova", each is very different in it's essence. The albums reflect the inquisitiveness of the duo to find new music, to explore transcriptions and to find ways to re-interpret the saxophones original repertoire. They approach the music from different and renewed points of view, searching for a deeper understanding between the pianist and the saxophonist.  They strive for each of their performances to leads towards a more powerful and higher quality future production.
